Day 1

Our flight out of LAX was to leave at 8:05am, and our faithful friend Dan so kindly agreed to drive us to the airport at 5:30am! After a 35 minute drive, we checked in with Virgin America and got through the security line rather quickly. Here's a shot of us after that fantastic security line...

We then stopped at Ruby's in the terminal and had some rediculously expensive breakfast, then boarded the plane! While waiting for the plane to take off, we took some goofy pictures.

If you've never flown on Virgin America before, I highly recommend it. Each chair is black leather and has it's own television. The tv offers movies (@ $7 each), tv (free--or should i say, "included"), a google map charting travel progress, and a menu off of which you can order food (not free) and drinks (sodas + juices free) at any time. Both of us were very pleased! Also, instead of the classic safety presentation by airline staff, they show a video which is pretty funny. So after arriving in DC, we took a taxi ride to Hotel Palomar, our residence for the week. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this place, especially since we paid for it using credit card travel points! It is newer, modern, very comfortable and had a fuji soaking tub and separate room with an elliptical machine + plasma tv. Here's a shot of Ryan in the room as we were arriving and unpacking.

The view from our room...

For dinner, we chose to venture out on foot and had some delicious Chinese food at City Lights of China. We were stuffed and tired so we walked back to the hotel and passed out for the night.

Vacation!

I was given a precious 2 1/2 weeks off of school and quickly decided that getting out of town was a necessity! We thought about going to San Francisco or Yosemite but ultimately decided to visit Washington, DC! I traveled with my family to DC when I was 16 (I think??) and Ryan has never been and has always wanted to go. So our adventure begins...

True Love.

Okay, okay. I know that my last blog entry was animal-based but I could not resist posting this. Those who know me know that I have an affinity toward animals (I get it from my mom!). I really love the distinct personalities they each have. My dog Jack (aka "Snoop") and I have a bond that Ryan will attest to. Snoop really is my friend! He cries when I leave him, and must have "puppy hugs" whenever I get home from a long day out of the house. After watching this video, you will see why I was so touched by it. There is an undeniable bond between the lion and his human friends. It will bring tears to your eyes!! Enjoy!

Dramatic Groundhog.

Three posts in 1 day. Wow.

While I was on YouTube, I was reminded of this clip that my brother Joel so graciously shared with me. Good, clean comedy. Made me giggle. Must share.

Jason Castro: Part 2

I have to mention, that my favorite American Idol contestant was voted off last night. As I have previously expressed, I think Jason is fan-tastic. Below is what I think was his best performance, "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" as Bruddah Iz (I know, I'm a total haole. But it is "Bruddah," not "brother.") used to sing it--one of my favorite songs. I'm glad Jason left the show this week. It was his time to go. I'm excited to see what he does with his new AI fame.

Long, Long, Long Time...No Blog...

Okay, so...I'm back!! The past 6 weeks of my life have been busy, to say the least. Besides everyday life, we've been dealing with multiple personal trials. At the heart of it all, I must say that God is good. I'm so glad that I am able to serve a loving and merciful God who provides for my every need--big and small. Thank you Jesus! My life is so good. Never before has my prayer life been what it is today. Never before have I lived for today, not worrying about tomorrow. I stand with the confidence God gives me, living in joy for today and looking toward tomorrow without fear. I have moments of fear and worry, but they do not rule me. I am overwhelmed by God's grace and mercy upon my life. I am blessed.
These lovely ladies are peace lilies that began to grow in front of my house a couple years ago. I did not plant them, but was delighted at the thought of unplanned garden residents that are not weeds. They have recently really blossomed once again, and are a daily visual reminder of God's faithfulness, peace, and love for me. Thank you, my Heavenly Father, for the beautiful flowers!
